How do I rem out a line in an SQL query

I'd like to be able to annotate an Access SQL Union query but am unable to find the character(s) which will allow me to do this. Is there a way to do what the old rem or -- use to do?

in the documentation for the access reserved sql words, i did not find a way to include a comment within the sql statement itself.

however, you can add a comment this way-
right-click the query, choose properties, enter your comment in the description textbox. you can do this for any object in access.
