    :

the microsoft specification indicates a max database size of 2 GB, for tables with an autonumber/counter field the limit is ~2 billion rows.

it will depend on what types of records and how many fields you store. it would store more records if a table has one number field compared to a table of 255 fields of text or memo.

a number of years ago as a test i inserted a million randomly generated records into access 97, it handled it and the file grew to around 50-60 MB and performance slowed somewhat. suffice to say that if you expect to have that many records you may want to consider sql server.
