Question about ExecuteNonQuery()

-using Microsoft Access 2000 instead of SQL Server

I have recently began to go through an old VB book from a class two years ago. Having sparked my interest I found this site http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321900 and attempted to follow the directions to tailor it to my settings. The problem I ran into was when I would run the program, I would have an error stating "An unhandled exception of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException' occurred in system.data.dll" if the "BLOBID" field in the "BLOBTest" database was required. If I changed the setting to Not Required, it would operate correctly. Did I initially set up the database incorrectly by omitting the keyword "Identity"? I was not familiar with it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
