languages

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where to find a list of all world languages. I think this should be some sort of an ISO standard, I need it to let users select their language in their settings page of my webapplication.

Can anyone tell me where to find such a list ?

I found this but I'm not sure if it's really a good idea to let users select their language - there are approx 7000 languages in the world, do you really want the user to have to scroll through all of them?

I think it would be more user friendly to allow the user to type in their language. You could validate the input by having the names of the languages of the world in a database - their input could then be checked against the database.

Otherwise go to google's preference page http://www.google.co.uk/preferences?hl=en

and copy and paste the code for the drop down list of languages.
