Hello,
I am a new comer to the database Programming.
My Queries are:
1. Which version of Oracle should I use for practice?
2. I am new to SQL so where to get help for that?
3. Whether Installation of Oracle on a single user system is possible?
System Configuration
Pentinum-IV 3.00Ghz
512 DDR RAM
Operating System
Windows XP
Windows 2000 Professional (SP4)

I want to practice SQL Programming using Oracle!
Thank U !

    hi newcomer,
for a new comer to database programming, i do not think you would really be doing anything 'tasking' on the database so, any version of oracle should suffice. however, if i had to tell you a specific one to use, i would say Oracle 8i or 9i. you can get a copy of the database from oracle's site to install.
for books, you could either use the oracle training books from oracle university or the books from sybex. these are the two books i have rated high on my list and i think they are really good and explanatory. just follow the notes and the excercises.
installation of oracle is definitely possible on your system. you have a better configuration than i do and i have oracle installed on my system.oracle has a version for windows. install it on the windows 2000 partition.
all the best in your database endeavours.
