MDI forms

Hello,
I am writing my first MDI Project, I have several questions.
1) How can I cause a child form to open ( or behave ) in a modal state?

2)Is there a way for a child to refer to the Parent ex; frmChild.left=(frmParent.width-frmChild.width)/2

Don't think you can make a child form modal.
You can only have one MDI form in a project, so should not be hard to find the parent.
