    Create an ODBC connection to Excel; this should be enough for you to open it using the ODBC provider for ADO.
    To be honest, I wouldn't do that for any reason whatsoever - it's probably going to be both painful and disgusting, I believe - but still it's doable.
    I'd rather go through Office Automation and directly import Excel objects in my app, which would be both easier and faster, although it would require Excel on the target computer to run.
