ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended

Can someone help me with this query, I need to do it this way using the join...


SQL> SELECT a.messageid
2 FROM messages a
3 JOIN messages b ON b.messageID = a.messageID;
JOIN messages b ON b.messageID = a.messageID
*
ERROR at line 3:
ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended

    Try "INNER JOIN" instead of just JOIN. Are you sure your version of Oracle supports this kind of join syntax? I think older versions didn't.
