HTML and attaching values using POST

( substituted for less than

) substituted for greater than

(FORM action=https://sitename.com/cgi//filename.dll method=POST)

(input type=hidden name=VAR1 value='Value1')

(input type=hidden name=VAR2 value="Value2")

I could imitate the above with the URL

https://sitename.com/cgi/filename.dll?VAR1=Value1&VAR2=Value2

Now the new problem that I can't find an answer for, the addition of another piece at the end of the URL

(FORM action=https://sitename.com/cgi/filename.dll?Test method=POST)

(input type=hidden name=VAR1 value='Value1')

(input type=hidden name=VAR2 value="Value2")

How would I imitate the second example? What exactly does the word "Test" represent?

Thanks for any help.

  • I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do. However, any data set through a query string (?...=...&...=...) is the GET method. If you're going to use POST, you cannot send anything through the query string. However, you can send information that is hidden to the user by using hidden form fields:

    (INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="name" VALUE="value")

    Hope this helps,
