formatting date in mysql db

hello sirs/mams,

In mysql 'date' datatype is stored in the format "yyyy-mm-dd".

if we wanted to format it to "dd/mmm/yyyy" when we display the date in the user interface, using a sql query, how can we do that?

can anybody pls clear this to me.

    is this whatn u want
    select to_char(date,'dd/mon/yyyy') from table
