i want to know more about the use of DOS in pascal.
What is the relevance of attaching:
uses crt, DOS;
in a pascal program?
would it be possible not to include this one?

    The DOS unit contains several file handling routines. You are not required to use it, but then you have to write the implementation to those functions yourself. In some cases these functions are written in assembly and cannot be written in the Pascal language itself.

    Yes, you could omit it if you didn't need any of its functions. This unit is used for listing directory contents, capturing interrupts, checking and changing file attributes, etc.
