A basic programmed Address book

I need a clue; am having a problem programming an adress book using Basic. Which promts you to suply names , age ,sex,adress and write it into a file and search for the records once the name is supllied.I am having problem with updating the records whenever anew record isd to be created.

    What basic (qbasic, Visual Basic, etc) and what kind of record (Regular Random, Access database, ?)

    You'd better go with Visual Basic for front-end and MSAccess for back-end. That would create a great app. If you want to try out kinda same app, you can check out the following site, where I've submitted an application called 'Phone Diary' with full source code, which can be a good starting point for you.
