Virus with Apache webserver

treshrtreshr Member Posts: 326
Is it possible for a virus to attack my webserver when I have only openened port 80 with nat.
Because my server goes down every so many days and it gets pretty annoying.

Thanx in advance.

There aren't that many Apache worms on the loose (they are worms, not virii). If you run a web server on your computer you should be keeping Apache up to date with the latest releases, particularly any security related releases. Otherwise you're pretty much asking for trouble.

Your web server goes down? Or the system as a whole? Have you checked log/messages files? What OS?

The funny thing is that I did all of this already. And I know that it are worms and not virusses. My mistake.

But there's nothing I can do about except installing the security updates.

Does Apache leave anything in it's log file when it dies? Check /var/log/messages (if you're on Linux/UNIX).
