I have created an install with the VB Package and deployment wizard and when trying to install on a WinME box i get this error
"Setup can not continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you. ..."
I click Ok and the machine reboots ( i expect the install to continue but it does not), I restart the install and get the same error again. I allow it to reboot again and thus begins an endless loop.
I can not install the app on the machine. Does anyone know what to do to get around this error? Dont suggest upgrading ME because my customer is not ready to do that, although I know I will eventually convince him.
Thanks for any help
Lee

You don't give much information but I suspect you're using the data components, correct? You need to include a copy of mdac_typ.exe with your setup and have it run before the other stuff.

I've seen this problem before. I never solved it. :-( But I don't think I was using data access components. Worth a try if they are being used though.
Anyway, you aren't alone in the problem. It was a 98 box I saw it on, and I'd built the setup on a 2000 system. Maybe if you build setup on an ME system it'd work? Just an out of the blue guess.
You could also check the service packs from Microsoft to see if this problem was ever addressed, or download the (free) MSI setup wizard, again from Microsoft, which with any luck will not suffer from these issues. I've used it and it's pretty solid.

I can figure out why! Because InstallShield wasn't written by Microsoft! ;-)

It probbaly would have worked if you made the setup file on the computer it was going to go on because the Package and Deployment Wizard gets the .dll's from the PC you use the wizard on.
:
And then you could compare the versions of the dlls to see what might actually be different.
