Apache 2.0 Windows 98

DavidJackson4DavidJackson4 Member Posts: 33
I'm trying to learn PHP and have downloaded Apache 2.0 on Windows 98 for local development. I have heard that Apache 2.0 won't work on Windows 98, but I thought it might be fine for what I'm doing. Any thoughts?

Where did you hear it from? I suspect if it's true it'll say so on the Apache website itself. I'm pretty sure I ran Apache 1.3 on Win98, and it worked fine. Don't see why 2.0 wouldn't.

Now, I've tried to configure it to work with PHP, but I've messed it up in a way that it won't even start anymore. when I try to go to the command line and say:

    apache -k start

the error i get is, No Installed Service named Apache2

does anyone know what that means?
