Windows SDK? What for, how do I get it?

I've heard about the Windows SDK. What can it be used for, and how can it be obtained? Does it work well with assembly language?

The windows SDK isn't really something that works with languages, it's more a specification of the OS. It also explains the API and all that. You can download it from msdn.microsoft.com for free.
