mysql problems with php in red hat 9

PsyKadPsyKad Posts: 50Member
i'm in the process of moving my php scripts to my linux box, but the php included with red hat doesn't seem to recognize the 'mysql_connect' function. it says its undefined. now, these scripts work on my php v4.3.2 on my xp pro machine. i made a file using the phpinfo() and found out that php v4.2.2 is installed on my linux box. does this version not support mysql commands??? someone, please help! thanks.

AFAIK, it's not about version number. When PHP is compiled various modules can be compiled into it, the mysql module being one of them. Looks like, for some insane reason, RedHat have distributed PHP without MySQL support compiled in.

You can either try and find an RPM which has it compiled in, recompile PHP (or does it have dynamically loadable modules?) or use Perl instead. ;-)
