MySQL based applications deployment

Hello there!

I need to be suggested how could I distribute the Delphi application that
uses MySQL as a database layer for desktop application. Which files,
libraries, ODBC additions and registry keys should I include to the
distribution package to have complete working application ready for using
after installation?

Thank you all in advance.

I would advise you to check the MySQL web site for their licensing requirements. If your application is not absolutely GPL'ed you can't distribute it without paying a licensing fee. For Windoze you just need to distribute the .dll. ODBC depends on what you're using. If it's not too late, check out MyDB from dubaron.com. You won't need the ODBC.

Do you know some DB which could replace MySQL for such task? I coudn't insert into DBase file more then 27 million records (but I need to insert 40 or 50). Does it exists some not to complicated DB format to use it in a Delphi desktop application (desirable without BDE) with large number of records?

    TIA.

27 million? Yikes...The only other "free" DBMS that I know of is postgresql. I haven't looked at it for several years. You may not be able to build a table that large without going to the big boys and forking out serious money.
