closing connections with DOS

I used netstat -r and found three connections that I know are serving me advertisements when I don't even have a browser window open. What should I do to close them? Here is an example of one that I would like closed. I would prefer not to download something that does it for me; manually is so much more enjoyable.

Proto Local address Foreign address state
TCP John Smith:1694 a80-126-80-156.ads1.xs4all.nl:12011 ESTABLISHED

What does this all mean, and how can I close the connection?
