escape characters in CLOB values

Yet another question...
Is there a way to store newlines, etc. in CLOB or varchar variables, like using
or in C++? Or must the whole CLOB be one long, long line?

Thx

CLOBs and VARCHARs can contain any characters. You just have to be careful when using literal strings because the SQL parser isn't as intelligent as other string parsers.

This statement inserts a newline-terminated string to a CLOB field:
insert into myclobs (data) values 'foobar' || chr(10)

Single quotes are special characters in SQL, so you need to escape them:
insert into myclobs (data) values 'foobar''s home' || chr(10)

Both of these statements should work equally well for CLOBs or VARCHARs.
