A good design method

i would like to know a good design metod
(eg. UML, fusion method. oo design, fuction design..)
i would like to know if there are any other design methods and which you would recommend is the best..

    Strictly speaking, UML encapsulates OO design, function design, etc... UML is a modelling framework that gives developers a consistent framework that enables system designers to communicate requirements clearly to code-cutters.

    Note that learning UML (the definition) and learning to USE the UML (the process) are two different things. It's similar to the difference between being able to prove Green's Theorum (a 2-d calculus to 3-d calculus bridge) and being able to use it to solve fluid mechanics problems.

    I'm not too sure about fusion method (never heard of it) but I'm no software engineer - just a Jack Of All Trades who knows enough to be able to recommend learning how to use UML.

    SAMS have a good intro to using UML if you're interested.
