Hi,
You have to specify an absolute font size. Here's a sample page.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

Welcome to my website.
I accidentally deleted the closing "Head" tag in the original
post. It's fixed now.

Hi Nomi49,
You can get the screen resolutions of the individual
terminals. The JavaScript in the following HTML page
will get and show the width and height in pixels of the
screen it's running in. If you need adjustments made to
the layout based on that, you'll need more code.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

var wd, ht;
wd = window.screen.availWidth
ht = window.screen.availHeight
alert(" width = " + wd + " height = " + ht )

Welcome to my website.
What type of layout problems are you having, and what
browsers do you need to support?

thanx again

my problem is there are some tables with
flexible width

but some tables in a site has to be with fixed width
and that effects the look

if I design my layout for 800x600 than
user with 1024x800 resolution will have some White area on the
right side

and if I design for 1024 res. user
a user with 800x600 has to scroll to the right side

Hi nomi49,
Find out the optimum dimensions for everything at both resolutions
and I'll see if I can write some JavaScript to adjust them at run time.
What all browsers ( and their versions ) are being used?

Hi,

: if I design my layout for 800x600 than
: user with 1024x800 resolution will have some White area on the
: right side
:
: and if I design for 1024 res. user
: a user with 800x600 has to scroll to the right side

Remember there is always the option of using % widths. As long as you design the page and anchor any images in place by placing fixed width tables inside variable width ones, you can normally fiddle things so that the page looks OK when resized. You might want to take a look at how some of the bigger sites handle this issue by seeing how they act at different resolutions.

Hope this helps,

Jonathan

background and
all of them should appear at the same time

Here's a way. Just use an image of your own, of the exact size
you need the bullets to be, and combine that with absolute font
size setting. Here's an example:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

Title

UL{
LIST-STYLE:
circle url(dot.gif) inside;
FONT-WEIGHT: 500;
FONT-SIZE: 10pt;
FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial'
}

• text
• item1
• item2
• item3
• item4
• item5
• item6
• item7
• item8
• item9
• item10
