Looking for guidance on why (and how to remedy) my vb 6.0 application does not recognize a MS Access 2000 db. It was originally written using a Access 97 db. Refers to DAO incompatibility? Is there a change needed to the application or to VB 6.0 sp5?

I am having this exact same problem; did you ever figure this out? I am getting the error "Unrecognized database format...". I am sure it is in the data control I am using. I posted this same question to a different board.

As far as i'm know Access 2000 was changed compared 97 version and visual basic 6 was out before 2000 so it doesn't know about 2000's format - a workaround is to use the convert to prior database function under tools so its saved as a Access97 database, it works then I do this at college

Yes Access 2000 DAO is different the Access 97. If you don't have Access 2000 installed you will need to update your version of MDAC to something like 2.7
You will need to recompile your VB 6 program with changes to any data controls and access methods that you may be using. Changing the database version back to 97 will work with your existing VB program but if you wish to move forward you will have to rework your code.

: there is a "connect" object associated with the dbgrid32.ocx that allows you to select Access 2000. I am working through this approach.
