Responsible for administrative and operational support functions for all departments within the Medical Surgical Specialty Services, encompassing financial, materials management, information systems, clerical and outcomes analysis. In conjunction with other Directors of Service, develop and implement fiscal budget for each department focusing on needs including capital equipment, staffing, supplies and expenses that support the area of responsibility. Review the internal/external benchmarking of services and make recommendations to Administrative Director for process changes.
Project Manager 1998 to 2001
Methodist Healthcare (14 hospital healthcare system) Memphis, Tennessee
Managed the custom development of SAP software implementations and upgrade projects in 14 corporate owned hospitals located in West Tennessee and Mississippi. Served as SAP functional expert and provided reengineering consulting for package application implementations for Materials Management, Sales and Distribution, Inventory Management, Purchasing and Accounts Payable modules. Developed and executed all phases of system testing. Prepared and delivered training materials and courses. Developed network management tools to trouble shoot SAP operation problems for all Methodist Healthcare facilities. Provided directions and procedures to facilitate the closing of a central distribution system and moved all hospitals to a just-in-time inventory logistical system utilizing web-enabled B2B and EDI systems. Implemented Electronic Data Interfaces (EDI) to all major vendors for both outgoing purchase orders and incoming invoices. Streamlined the accounts payable function to enable more timely and efficient payment to vendors and refunds to patients. Performed configuration, testing and documentation assignments. Formally approved milestone documents and results such as plans, blueprints, test results, documentation, etc.
Director of Material Services 1992 to 1997
University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, The Kirklin Clinic, Birmingham, Alabama (650 physician outpatient and research facility)
Set up the Materials Management and Accounts Payable functions. Designed and implemented a supply chain management system and accounts payable processes for this new facility prior to its opening. Responsible for functional operation of the maintenance of the information system software and the day to day operations of the materials services department. This included contract negotiations, compiling statistical reports, budget management and analysis, budget projections for all departments and direct supervisory responsibilities for the departments of Materials Management, Supply Processing and Distribution, Central Sterile Reprocessing, Laundry Services and Mailroom. Established a 100% stockless materials management program for all supplies utilized by the clinic. Implemented Electronic Data Interfaces (EDI) to all major vendors for outgoing purchase orders. Developed a Computerized Hazardous Material tracking systems in accordance with O.S.H.A guidelines.

Memorial Medical Center (500 Beds), Savannah, GA
Set up and implemented the Dunn and Bradstreet Materials Services and Accounts payable software system. Direct supervisory responsibilities for 58 employees in Information Systems, Materials Management, Purchasing, Central Supply, General Stores, Mail Services, Courier Services and Asset Property departments. Established a computerized patient charge tracking and recovery system to improve revenue by over $200,000 annually. Established a computerized durable medical equipment program to maintain and track patient use equipment and facilitate preventive maintenance follow-up, and bring MMC under compliance with the new FDA Health Devices requirements.

Developed and implemented a minicomputer LAN based purchasing system utilizing ESI software.

DCH Health Care System (947 Bed System), Tuscaloosa, AL
Developed a comprehensive Materials Management and Accounts Payable Minicomputer System. Developed and wrote materials management software programs using Basic programming language. Direct control of all Materials Management activities for DCH Regional Medical Center and its three (3) associated satellite facilities. Direct supervisory responsibilities for 42 employees in Materials Management, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Central Supply, General Stores, Mail Services, Courier Services and Asset Property departments. Consolidated the Central Service and General Stores into one comprehensive S.P.D. department and significantly reduced the operating inventory. Developed a stockless printing system. Developed Hazardous Materials tracking system in accordance with O.S.H.A guidelines. Set up a multi-location logistical system supported by a central warehouse.
