I want to make a password list, so i use the htpasswd utility and type...

"htpasswd -c c:program filesapache groupapache2confpasswords eggie5"

so thats saying I want to create a password file in the conf directory in the c drive with the user name eggie5... but it wont work...

I dont think it likes the spaces in it...

If it don't like spaces, shove path to the file in quotes...

    htpasswd -c "c:program filesapache groupapache2confpasswords" eggie5

    May work, may not...

Ok, so now that it is working, I have one more question. I can password protect any directory in Apache now, but I cant just protect a single file, in my case im tying to protect the 'server-status' and the 'server-info' pages. How could I do this with the normal .htaccess with the passwords in a simple text file...???
