Prototypes missing

I would like some help with Directx/vc++. I'm trying out some stuff with directX in the vc++ compiler. I have installed DirectX8.1 and pointed the compiler path in tools/options/directories to the /lib folder in that directory.

Now, I can compile code when i'm using DirectDraw7 stuff, but when programming i don't get to see the function prototypes, nor the availabe variable types. What is it I havent done to be able to see these.

It's very hard programming with DirectX when not seeing the prototype since I would have to remember the exact input to every DD-call every time.

Please help me out guys...
