Hello, I'm very new to Access. I just went through a tutorial and I have just gotten a parttime job where I need to keep up an Access database. I need to figure out how to have Access 2000 automatically record the creation date of a record and then to automatically record and keep track of subsequent modifications to records. I must not be asking the online help the right questions because I'm not getting anywhere. If anyone can help me with a step by step, I would be so grateful. Thank you very much in advance!

A quick way to do this would be have the default value of your field that holds the creation date equal to Now()

Using the same function: Now(), you can put in a snippet of code in the BeforeUpdate event of your form that would change the field that holds your last modified date to the current date: Now()
