Identity field corrupt

Anjuna MoonAnjuna Moon Member Posts: 89
I recently discovered that the identity field in one of my tables suddenly has made an enormous leap in its values. The increment and seed are both set to 1 as normal, but suddently the values jumped from 1500 or so, to 402 000 000 and ticking up from there.

I know for certain that no one has hacked into it, cause it's a local database, but what else could possibly cause this.
(SQL Server 7.0)
