we are building a prototype of a parking control system. i wonder how can we activate the stepper motor using the computer. but before that, the stepper motor will only open if the correct password is entered. we have to use assembly language.

    Why don't you use a microcontroller? Writing the code in x86 asm is possible but a pain in the ass, try using an atmel or microchip microcontroller instead. If you have to use a computer the way to access the stepper depends on many different factors: is the comp in real or protected mode, is the os linux, windows, or msdos(or something different altogether), is the motor interfaced through usb, serial, or parallel ports, or a separate custom controller card? Finally, why do you have to use x86 asm? Can you not write the high level functions in c or java or something else and then use asm to control the low-level bit banging?
