Has anyone ever heard of this???

I'm having a problem in a COBOL program.

I have an indexed file with random access. The record

length is pic X(3000). (this 3000 is not one long

string, but many elementary items, all totalling 2000,

plus a 1000 filler). When I write (or rewrite) the

record, COBOL only saves the first 800 characters.

Does anyone know if there is a limit on a 01 record as

to how many characters it can hold???
