Direct3D random terrain


I've started using Microsoft Direct3D in my application, but now i'm stuck. I need to know how to make a flat plate witch I can move the vertexes on. It should be a large flat plate with hundreds of vertexes. (I'm planning to make a random mesh terrain, Sorry my English stinks!)
