how to get long filename from DOS

microBOYmicroBOY Member Posts: 64
i'm a newbie..n really need help.
i wrote a batch file to run a perl script; it'll receive a file location as parameter.

the batch file:

cd c:perlscripts
perl goodlink.pl %1
exit

the file location sent to the batch file is in short filename:
eg. ( c:windows utori~1.html ) if the filename is tutorial123.html
But i need the long filename(LFN)in my perl script.

How to get the LFN- "tutorial123.html" using a batch/DOS command?
Thnks!

Somewhere on the net there's a utility called LFNDIR that is freeware with source code. A modification to that should give you what you want. If you can't find it (I don't remember where I downloaded it from), email me and I'll send you a zip file.
